slaveboysmith: Today at DommeAddiction marks the return engagement of the very sexy Lady Ashley to update our lucky DA readers on all that is new in her world since she last had me kneel before her. Welcome back, Lady Ashley. How are you?
Lady Ashley: Hello. I’m pleased to have this opportunity to share what I’ve been working on in the years since our last conversation. Evolving as an experimental artist and building the foundation of a creative community has been my primary focus.
sbs: Can you describe for our readers how you may have changed or evolved as a Domme since we last spoke? Would you say your style or focus has shifted significantly?
LA: I’m always exploring new ideas as an artist, so consistent evolution is something my fans have come to expect. Over the last few years, I’ve had a lot of gear upgrades and acquisitions that help my work stand out. But more than dazzling lights, exciting camera angles and original music, the best upgrade I made was focusing more attention on forging my own path.
I draw inspiration from outside of the Femdom scene. My clips are no longer based on buzz words or snappy titles. Instead, I allow ideas to flow to me and slowly reveal themselves over time. Ideas compound and turn into compelling scenes. Truthfully, boners are far from my mind when dreaming up erotic stories. For me, it’s about conveying a sexy mood by building an atmosphere of subtle, sensual details.
sbs: Of the clips you’ve produced, of the type of sensual experience you describe, is there one you can point to as a favourite, Lady Ashley, one that best represents your evolving style that we should all purchase immediately to experience what you have created?
LA: My latest series, “Clue Drops”, is an excellent example of avant-garde FemDom. The viewer is challenged to pay attention to detail and find his way through a sexy labyrinth of riddles and motifs.
But my best pieces of Esoteric Erotica will come later this year. I’ve been working on several groundbreaking POV series, experimenting with an original format that’s been years in the making. By incorporating elements of cinema and theatre, I’ve discovered a way to immerse the viewer in a world of sex and danger – where everything else fades away and he can focus on his role in my thrilling story of seduction and female power.
sbs: Are you self-taught with these editing techniques, Lady Ashley, or have you had some mentoring along the way? And do you, yourself, mentor other Dommes on the skills you have developed in terms of clip production?
LA: I taught myself everything through experimentation and observation. There are layers of detail in my clips that are inspired by film productions. Because of that, there are several jobs to perform before I’m ready to edit. Jobs like making the shot list, set dressing and gaffing must be completed leading up to film time. Editing can be as simple as cutting footage in creative ways.
Learning film terms and vocab helped put words on some of the things I was already doing, which made for better production notes. I don’t mentor others, but I’m always happy to share things that have helped me, like organizational skills. I’ve found that creating routines and keeping lists can prevent burnout, while also allowing the mind to remain open to explore thoughts or find inspiration.
While it isn’t mentoring, @ArtPornPromo is a Twitter account in support of the growing movement of erotic artists. It’s a budding scene of experimentation by creatives from different backgrounds, much like a sexy Salon. I promote other artists to encourage sexual expression beyond market research. Such notable Dommes as Muse Waltrude, Princess Camryn and Baal Eldritch have joined the movement. It’s exciting to see and share so much diversity in creativity.
sbs: That is wonderful to see sharing in an industry that, rightfully so, is often protective of ideas and skills for fear of having others copy them in an effort to be competitive with them. We’ve spoken quite a bit about your online presence. Do you also see submissives for real time sessions, Lady Ashley?
LA: I still have my secrets but I’m not concerned about others copying me. This is a visual profession, so of course we’re going to see each other’s work and sometimes become inspired. When I was new, I looked up to Dommes like Bratty Bunny and Ellie Idol. Seeing how they handled themselves and the themes they covered influenced my early work and helped shape my foundation.
Now when I get feedback from girls who are inspired by what I’m creating, I feel very happy and a strong sense to encourage them to continue exploring a more thoughtful and artistic approach to their work. My Domme career began in 2012, filming primarily face sit and smother clips. In 2014 I started filming POV clips and never looked back. I don’t do well with taking directions from others; it goes against my assertive and uptight nature. So, I never got into sessions of any sort. In fact, I even stopped taking custom requests years ago for the same reason. I’m quite selfish with my time and how I spend it.
sbs: As we discuss how you have evolved since our last feature, what do you have planned for your next evolution, Lady Ashley? Is there anything left on your Domme bucketlist at this point?
LA: I have more ideas than I have time, so retirement is far from my mind. I would love to be renowned for my work. I’ve learned that I can’t rely on clip sites to promote me as I feel I deserve. Because of that, I’ve been building a larger web presence.
This includes the HypnoticGoddesses.com. We’re a collective of witchy women, featuring top audio artists Mistress Amethyst and Hypnotic Haylee. Last spring, Goddess Amber Mae invited me to join a new chat group. We all found so much support and inspiration with each other that we formed the Hypnotic Goddesses. We have a video collaboration coming soon, which showcases our many mesmerizing talents and sensual voices.
As for my next evolution, it’s hard to tell! I’ve really enjoyed carving out my own path and there are so many more ideas to explore. I’m more determined than ever to change viewers’ expectations of POV FemDom videos. I could never fit the popular mold, so I’m determined to break it.
