sbs: It is a ranking that is well deserved, Mistress Julie. Each of the Dommes we’ve featured previously tells a unique story of how they became the powerful Femdom Goddesses they are today. What can you tell our readers of your journey?
MJS: My journey was probably a bit unconventional. I discovered BDSM as a model, though My mother has said that I tied up My dolls when I was younger. I used to get into fights with boys all the time. I remember kicking a boy in the balls for the 1st time in 2nd grade…My first roles were as a submissive, though I wasn’t really submissive. I liked the thrill and challenge of it, but I wasn’t going to be anybody’s bitch. Eventually I came into My own as a Dominant. It was a long road, not so much in learning the technique, but in allowing Myself to go to certain places. I was raised to have manners and be super polite, so there was often the question in My mind – “Am I allowed to do this?” Now I sometimes even shock Myself with the things that come out of My mouth. I was fortunate to meet several fierce and fearless Women who influenced Me, mentored Me or just showed Me by example including Tara Indiana, Bella Vendetta, Mistrix Ms E, Maya Sinstress and Mistress Cassandra in NYC.
sbs: That is a veritable who’s who of Femdom Goddesses you mention, Mistress. It’s wonderful to see such a community nurturing one of their own as they start out. I wonder if that boy knew what would become of that kick to the balls and where it would lead you lol. In terms of mentoring, do you find yourself on the other side of the equation now, being sought out by newer Dommes seeking advice or counsel from you?
MJS: Unfortunately it’s not always that way. I was fortunate to have these Women as friends and colleagues when the people who were supposed to be mentoring and teaching Me fell short. Mostly when other Women contact Me it’s to learn how to shoot video / get more comfortable on camera. Mentoring someone is a big responsibility and something I don’t have the time for at the moment. I wouldn’t want to undertake something that important and not be able to follow through as I know first hand how that feels.
sbs: That’s more than reasonable and only fair to be up front like that. Let’s turn our attention to the slaves that are drawn to you. Is there a “perfect” slave that is exactly what you are looking for in a session, or in videos?
MJS: My perfect slave is a masochist but one without ego, one for whom the pain is a bit difficult to take but he takes it to please Me.
sbs: That is a truly extraordinary exchange…pushing past perceived limits because you know it will please your Goddess. I’ve been on the submissive side of that circumstance and it was something I’ll never forget. Is there an equivalent feeling or reaction for a Domme, akin to “sub space” when everything clicks perfectly in a session?
MJS: There is, and it’s something that’s not talked about enough. I get an intense high when everything falls into place, people stop playing a role and just ride that energy. Afterwards I’m completely drained but also bouncing off the walls, I feel that buzz in My entire body.
sbs: That does sound absolutely intoxicating. Are there specific fetishes that you can explore with a slave that are more likely to bring about that kind of experience for you and your slave, Mistress?
MJS: Caning, whipping, needle play, breath play especially when mixed with heavy rubber.
sbs: I guess it’s safe to say from the intro video I have included with this interview, and from your list of fetishes, that you tend more to the sadistic side of domination rather than sensual?
MJS: Absolutely, though I can do sensual Domination and enjoy it. It really depends on the submissive and the energy he gives back to Me.
sbs: Are there significant differences between real time sessions with slaves and those that you film for your clipstores?
MJS: Sure. There are scenes I do in session that I don’t think make for good video. Ideally I would do only heavy scenes all the time but the reality is many of My clients can’t be marked in the way video requires. In some ways the scenes I shoot for video are My wishlist of scenes that I rarely get to do in session or areas I want to do more of…
sbs: Your compilation clip that introduces this feature is something to whet the appetite of any eager slave! When you have a slave in session, reaching that point of willingness to comply with your every wish, is there a “tell” that lets you know you have them exactly where you want them to be?
MJS: Everyone’s tell is different. Sometimes it’s a look in his eye, the pupils dilating, or just seeing his body language change and his muscles relaxing…
sbs: Do you only dominate male slaves or do you also have female submissives that kneel before you?
MJS: I used to Dominate Women and while the experience of Dominating another Woman is completely different and amazing in its own way, I struggle with the fact that there really is nothing subversive about perpetuating what men do to Women every day. I just can’t do it anymore. I’d much rather degrade a man any day and every day.
sbs: And I’m sure you will have no difficulty finding men willing to be degraded. Given your desire to degrade men every day, is there a particular celebrity, or well known person you would truly love to have at your mercy in your dungeon?
MJS: I have weird taste in men, probably more so as I get older. I saw a Femdom style layout Bruce Willis did a few years ago that was pretty hot. I had always seen him more as an alpha before that… Jeff Goldblum or Billy Bob Thornton would probably be interesting.
sbs: Would it bring a greater sense of satisfaction and pleasure to break a man who is either perceived as, or thinks himself to be, an Alpha?
MJS: Absolutely!
sbs: Have you had that kind of experience before, and if so, would you mind sharing with our readers what it was like?
MJS: Anyone who contacts Me for a session has already accepted or wants to explore that side of himself. My experiences have been more in the vanilla world where I meet a guy who thinks he’s going to be the alpha and I’ve been the aggressor sexually. Some can’t deal with it, some discover another side of themselves and become addicted.
sbs: If they can’t handle it, they’re missing out! In this slave’s humble opinion, of course 🙂 For my fellow slaves, reading this interview, intrigued and allured with grand ideas of serving you, how can they best show their worthiness to you, Mistress Julie?
MJS: A good way to get noticed is to get something from My wishlist, buy clips, and pay attention to the things I like – the type of stockings, the type of wines I drink, paying for dinners, anticipating My needs and wants. I like motivated, detail oriented slaves who need little direction.
sbs: I don’t doubt there are many of that type reading this and ready to offer themselves to you, Mistress. Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions today. It’s not every day that I have the privilege of interviewing a Hall of Fame Dominatrix. You are truly amazing!
MJS: Every year starting from 2004 to the present I was nominated for My fetish video production work and I never won. Usually I would lose to a porno fake fetish production which was super frustrating, more so because My work was only eligible for one or two categories. One year I had 5 or 6 of the 10 BDSM video nomination slots and still lost! I guess since they were never going to give Me a video award they gave Me THE award 🙂 It was a great moment and something of which I am very proud. I won the “Indie Porn Icon” Award at the Feminist Porn Awards that same year, which was a surprise. I had previously won “Best Kink Video” for “Vicious Strap On Bitches”. I had some videos nominated but they didn’t tell Me in advance I was winning that award. It was thrilling to be able to go up on stage and have the opportunity to thank the people who helped Me get there (though I’m sure in the heat of the moment I forgot some people) as well as to be able to publicly speak about some of the struggles I faced getting distribution and producing content that didn’t fit the porno mold. In the end, sticking to My vision and having artistic integrity, while not always financially successful, garnered Me recognition & the respect of My peers which in some ways is more valuable to Me.
sbs: I know that when you first contacted me to arrange this feature I had to pinch myself. I felt, and still do feel, somewhat as if I’m kneeling before Femdom Royalty!
MJS: Thank you for saying that! I kind of feel like I get lost in the crowd sometimes, so that’s very nice to hear 🙂
